COMMUNITY GRANTS: 2003

Accolade Adult Day Service - $850 for therapeutic horticultural programming for seniors who

Animal Care League - $750 to support an education program for children in local schools regarding proper care of pets;

CampFire USA - $1,500 for continued expansion of CampFire programming in local elementary schools;

Community Support Services - $1,500 for Art Time, a respite program for families in Oak Park and River Forest;

Dominican University - $750 to support Dominican's participation in the Latino Film Festival;

Family Service and Mental Health Center of Oak Park and River Forest - $1,000 to purchase software to evaluate youth clients for specific mental health disorders;

Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust - $1,150 to update the walking tour system;

Heritage Chorale - $500 to support the purchase of sheet music for the Chorale's upcoming season;

Hephzibah Children's Association - $3,000 for Colorful Days, a summer arts program for children in the residence and area group homes;

Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest - $2,000 to support the digitalization of the historic Philander Barclay photo collection;

Institute for Science and Technology - $2,000 to support the Percy Julian symposium for science students at local schools;

MOMENTA - $800 for a dance production featuring disabled performers with their families;

National Alliance for the Mental Ill Drop-In Center - $2,000 to support a new pottery program for clients of the Oak Park drop-in center;

Newberry Consort - $800 to support the Consort's concerts in Oak Park for the upcoming season;

Oak Park-River Forest Children's Chorus - $750 to support transportation costs involved in the Chorus' outreach and touring activities locally;

Oak Park-River Forest Collaboration for Early Childhood Care and Education - $2,000 to support the Collaboration's efforts to coordinate improved access to early childhood care in Oak Park and River Forest:

Oak Park-River Forest Infant Welfare Clinic - $1,800 to purchase equipment for the Infant Welfare dental clinic;

Oak Park-River Forest Day Nursery - $1,000 in support of the Spanish Language Program for children at the Day Nursery;

Oak Park-River Forest Symphony - $1,000 in support of the November performance;

Seguin Services - $2,000 to support the purchase of multi-use fax/copier/printer machines for eight group homes in Oak Park;

Steckman School of Music - $2,400 to support the addition of a brass teacher to the staff of the Jazz Ensemble Preparatory Program;

Unity Temple Restoration Foundation - $750 to support outreach activities for local junior high school students in Oak Park and River Forest;

Volunteer Center - $1,000 to support the development of an enhanced web site;

West Suburban PADS - $1,750 in support of the transitional housing assistance program;

West Suburban Special Recreation Association - $2,450 for Best Buddies, which pairs OPRFHS students with students in the special education program for recreational activities;

West Suburban YMCA - $1,000 in support of the Friday Teen Nights, recreational programming targeted to local high school students.
